She ended the decade with a loud bang being the third top new R&B artist of the decade, respectively behind Alicia Keys and Beyonce.

Ashanti is well versed in music and understands the history of music she shows her love to the legends that came before her, and cites Whitney Houston for being her biggest influence. But Houston wasnt her only influence other chinned Janet Jackson, Madonna, Tupac, Blue Magic, Smokey Robinson, Price, and Donna Summer’s.

Ashanti has been a Philanthropist always giving back and working hard for others. In 2014 she was one of the artists to perform in the “Stand Up to Cancer” live television concert special which helped raise over $100 million dollars all of which was donated to cancer research.

She dated the very talented Nelly for some 9 years, but they both ended their relationship back in 2012. The one downfall of her career has been her business relationship with Ja Rule. Ja Rule has always been ultra talented but lacks the character of a true professional. And still gets involved in petty beefs which not only bring him down but bring the artists which rally around him down the their knees. Ashanti is her own person and has succeeded to cut ties somewhat from Ja Rule over the last few years.
