1. Hank Williams
Hank Williams born Hiram King “Hank” Williams, Sr. on September 17, 1923 has to be considered on anyone’s top list. This American icon is well regarded as one of the most influential singer and songwriters of this century. Some of his hits including “Never Again”, “Honky Tonkin”, “Move It on Over”, “Lovesick Blues”, “Cold Cold Heart”, Your Cheetin’ Heart”, “Hey Good Lookin” and “Lost Highway”, among his other numerous hits, keep his legacy alive.

2. Johnny Cash
Johnny Cash, born Johnny “J.R.” Cash on February 26, 1932 is another American musician and artist who was also very influential in the country music scene and should be part of anyone’s top list. Johnny Cash is most known for his country music talent, however he did play to other genres including rock and toll, blues and folk music. His songs including “Folsom Prison Blues”, “I Walk the Line”, “Man in Black”, “Ring of Fire”, “One Piece at a Time” and “A Boy Named Sue” are just some of his popular hits. He married June Carter and made may duets with her.

3. Waylon Jennings
Waylon Jennings, born Arnold Jennings on June 15, 1937 completes our list of the top country music singers. His music had a rock and roll edge. He collaborated with Buddy Holly in the early days and was one of the original members who participated in the outlaw country movement that was opposed to the strict Nashville music sound.
