Mindy McCready

Malinda Gayle McCready was born on November 30, 1975. She was affectionately known to her family, friends and fans as Mindy. She was a country music singer from the mid 1990’s until her tragic death on February 17, 2013. In her short career, she released five albums with her debut album entitled Ten Thousand Angels being released in 1996. Her debut went double platinum.

Mindy McCready released a number of hit singles in fact twelve singles to be precise which all reached the Billboard country music singles charts. Her hits included her number one hit, Guys Do It All the Time, Maybe He’ll Notice Her Now, Ten Thousand Angels, A Girl’s Gotta Do (What a Girl’s Gotta Do), What If I Do, The Other Side of This Kiss, You’ll Never Know and I’m Still Here among others.

Mindy garnered much unwanted attention through her troubled personal life. In terms of her romantic liaisons, she was engaged to actor Dean Cain in 1997 but the engagement ended the next year. Mindy was then linked to former NHL hockey player Drake Berehowsky and had a string of other unsuccessful relationships. In late 2003, she dated singer William McKnight. However, that relationship would end after a couple of years when McKnight was arrested and charged with attempted murder after an altercation resulting in Mindy being severely battered. Her personal life did not get any better and in 2005 she attempted suicide by ingesting drugs and alcohol. She did get back together with McKnight and became pregnant. However, she again attempted suicide in September 2005 and was fortunately unsuccessful. In the following year she gave birth to her son Zander Ryan McCready. In April 2012 she gave birth to her second son, Zayne, from record producer David Wilson. David Wilson himself died a tragic death by self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Despite the birth of her sons, Mindy McCready continued to deal with personal demons and again in late December 2008, she had attempted suicide once again. Her private life was turned public in 2009 when she joined the television show Celebrity Rehab 3, an unusual move but one where she sought help to deal with her very private and personal issues. Unfortunately, in February 2013, she made her last and final attempt at suicide and died.
She was a talented music artist and one who was taken away much too soon.
